The word hello itself is interesting with respect to its history and evolution. It is believed to have originated from holla or hullo , which were used to draw attention or express surprise. With the advent of telephone, hello found its popular use as a standard greeting. Alexander Graham Bell, the inventor of the telephone, initially suggested ahoy as a standard phone greeting. However, it was Thomas Edison who proposed using hello and it became widely accepted. The word hello is now universally recognized and used in many languages and cultures in its original form or with slight variations.
